Après-Shampooing Lissant

Like others my family and my wife’s salon have been using this product for years. This new formula is a completely different product and should be marketed as such. We miss the old formula and likely will stop using this new product. If you do decide to change back, or sell an additional product closer to the old formula we may never know. Disappointing.

The new formula is terrible. It smells bad, the consistency is runny, and it does NOT detangle. Bring the old formula back.

I am so disappointed they changed this conditioner. I've been consistently using it for years, and loved everything about the old formula. It smoothed and moisturized my hair so nicely, got rid of my tangles, and I loved the scent. The new formula does NOT smooth or detangle, and the scent is horrible. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE go back to the old formula, or I'll unfortunately have to search for a new conditioner.

Like most cult headed people, my girls get extremely dry during the summer month due to the heat, chlorine in pools, and salt water. However, this conditioner gives my curls slip and moisture needed in between wash days and after shampooing. Detangling my curls this summer has been much easier!!

I have used both the Matrix Mega Sleek shampoo and conditioner for over a decade but the new formula is not at all comparable. I'm so disappointed! The conditioner does not have any smoothing or sleek effect. Comparing the results I'm used to with old formulation to now using the new reformulation, my hair now looks frizzy, dull, and not at all smooth. Once styled, my hair definitely does not have the same shine or finish that the old formula left it with. It also does not feel moisturized or nourished after using the reformulation and is markedly more tangled. Additionally, the conditioner itself and the scent it leaves in the hair is *extremely* vanilla-y and kinda cheap/off-putting, a huge departure from the old formula. I had stocked up at a liter sale without realizing Matrix had reformulated (an indication/label would have been nice). I will definitely be returning and looking for something significantly more effective and that doesn't have an artificial baked good scent.

As others have noted - I do not like the new formula...please go back to Shea butter/Old formula......the smell is too strong and the results are NOT as good as the old formula. Been using the old formula conditioner for the last 8+years. Really BAD change.

I've been using this conditioner for probably the last 20 years (along with the shampoo) I just opened a new liter and what happened to the formula? I don't like all the perfume smell - please go back to the old formula. The product seems to work well as always. Why fix something that was working so well to add a bunch of unnecessary perfumes????

DO NOT BUY-it changed! I’ve been loyal to this shampoo/conditioner for the last few years. The new formula has a very strong scent that is unpleasant and lingers for a long time. It also gives me a headache. The formula also does not condition as well and I had to use a second conditioner to get adequate results. I will be returning my brand new 33.8 ounce bottles.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Matrix Mega Sleek Made Me Love My Hair Again I received the Matrix Mega Sleek Smoothie Supreme Mask, Smoothing Conditioner, and Smoothing Shampoo complimentary from Influenster, and I am genuinely blown away by how well they worked for my hair. I have a mix of 2C, 3A, 3B, and 3C curls that are high‑porosity, often dry, and now more than 50 percent white. The new coarse texture has made my curls feel unruly and harder to manage, and it’s been tough to feel like myself as the gray has come in. These products changed that for me. My curls were soft, shiny, and bouncy, and they popped in a way I haven’t seen in a long time. I was worried the line might leave buildup, but it didn’t at all. Everything rinsed clean, and my hair felt hydrated instead of coated. On the rare days I wear my hair straight, this line impressed me even more. Nothing has kept my frizz under control the way Mega Sleek has. The smoothness lasted, the shine stayed, and my hair didn’t puff out by midday. I loved these products so much that I immediately purchased the Mega Sleek Anti‑Frizz Topcoat Serum. It was the perfect finishing touch. Matrix Mega Sleek didn’t just make my hair look better. It made me feel like me again. Highly recommend for anyone with curls, high porosity, or coarse grays who wants softness, shine, and real frizz control.

I absolutely loved this conditioner for YEARS. I have very fine and long hair but it’s naturally curly/wavy, and this was the only thing that would keep my hair from looking like a frizzy half curly half straight mess. I am SO disappointed they changed the formula so drastically as the results I got from my latest bottle has me turning away from this line forever. I was skeptical but optmistic after reading some reviews of others who used to love this conditioner before the formula change. Some said the smell was awful - I don’t mind the smell so much, but I do prefer the more subtle scent of the old formula. Surely this new formula couldn’t be THAT bad, right? Unfortunately I was wrong. My hair felt so incredibly dry after showing with this and the texture was just awful. My hair felt like hay when it used to feel so silky and smooth. Now starts the frustrating journey of trying to find a different conditioner that actually works for me, but one thing is for sure - I will never be purchasing this conditioner again, and it breaks my heart.

I’ve been an avid Mega Sleek user for over 20 years. I have long, thick hair and this product has been amazing until recently. It is obvious that the formula has changed, and now there are dyes in it (not sure why that would be necessary for hair product). I now dread brushing my hair after using the conditioner. My hair doesn’t feel soft, feels super dry and tangled. Please change back to the original formula. Unfortunately with the new formula, I can no longer use your product.

The new formula does not work near as good as the original shea butter formula! Please switch it back this has been my go to for 20 years!! It smelt amazing and de tangled so easy. The new formula makes my hair feel dry and does not de tangle.

I am so disappointed in this new formula. I don’t like the strong smell- .like I’ve got coconut scent sunscreen in my hair.. I’ve used this product for over 15 years. I feel like I’ve been bamboozled. Why did you make this change? The results of using the new conditioner is not the same. My hair is now flat without body, unlike the previous formula. Can I get a refund? Or can you send me the old formula?

I have wavy hair, and typically after I wash my hair, it gets frizzy almost immediately. After using this the last month, I’ve definitely noticed a reduction in frizz after washing and especially the next day. I’ve also found that the longer you use this line, the better it works. It looks shinier and feels more hydrated. The shampoo and conditioner bottles are almost identical, and I’ve definitely confused them a couple times in shower, so I’d recommend differentiating them a little more.

What did you do?! Why would you change the formula on the shampoo and conditioner when it was wonderful from the start? The new formula is not nearly as good as the original and we are highly disappointed. The price went up and the results went down. Bring back the old formulas!

I LOVED the original formula and have used it for years… the new formulas leaves my hair stringy, limp, and lifeless. The old formula was thicker and more moisturizing, and it always left my hair shiny and soft. If you want to make a new product and charge more, then leave the old one alone and sell BOTH.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Before I even put this in my hair the smell took me to the beach with a hint of “62”. I’ve used this and the shampoo until there wasn’t hardly any left. This conditioner is creamy and somewhat of a thick texture. I start about midway down my hair and work the conditioner down and then rinse. This conditioner combined with the matching shampoo leaves my hair freeze free every time.

What a disappointment and an inferior product. I have been using Mega Sleek conditioner (with Shea Butter) since back when it was called Sleek Look, so at least over a decade. I was thrilled when I finally found the Shea butter formula because it was the only conditioner that gave my hair enough moisture, slip, and sleekness without making it feel filmy or dried out like hay. Back before I found the old Mega Sleek with Shea butter conditioner, I had probably spent thousands of dollars trying to find just the right conditioner for my mixed hair type that I straighten regularly. This new formula with jojoba oil makes my hair feel filmy, limp, and (ironically) dry simultaneously. It’s yellow and runny, has an overpowering unnatural scent, and doesn’t absorb into my locks like the old formula. Worst of all, it doesn’t leave my hair bouncy, shiny, or flowing like the old shea butter formula. Why change a good thing? Why not split this line into two options to keep offering the old formula alongside the new? I now fear I’ll need to spend thousands more dollars in wasted conditioners searching for something else to replace the Mega Sleek conditioner I used to love. Bye Matrix; You lost my loyalty.

Smells just like the hair mask and it lingers post-shower as well. The only downside for me is that I have very long hair so I basically used up half the bottle in one week. Unfortunately because of how much conditioner I would use I wouldn’t have this product in my budget for repurchasing but I still recommend it since it performs really well even at day 2 hair.
