New formula turned me purple.

Ive been using so silver for many years now, never had a problem, always getting compliments. Now, since the new formula, my hair looks awful. Im embarrassed of my hair. I had to stop using the so silver, and buy a different shampoo and conditioner. I now have to giant bottles of shampoo and conditioner I can not use. My hair is purple after 1 use. I loved the way it used to make my gray hair feel, so soft and normal, now, I wear it up and hope no one notices the purple. Either bring back the old formula, or offer the old formula as a so silver light, so the option is there for heavy or light tinting. I have even tried to use clarifying shampoo, and it won't come out. This is awful, I won't use or buy again.

Hydrating, silver brightening, yellow eliminator

I am so relieved to have found this line of So Silver! I had to stop coloring 20+ years ago, trust me I have tried so many formulas. For my gray, and age (60+) So Silver has been a game changer. It has cut down on frizz and drying, controls the yellowing w/natural graying. I can use it every, however I do switch up w/a thinning product as well. Guess what my sisters are getting for Christmas! It's been an expensive road to here, but I can now relax on "this" leg of my journey! Thanks Matrix!

I have used Matrix So Silver products for years. I recently purchased the So Silver purple conditioner as usual...BUT what have you done to the formula?!? I was shocked...it is impossible to squeeze out of the bottle...is thick like toothpaste...and an incredibly dark purple. The light mauve colour is gone...as is my support of this product.

Very disappointed

The old formula was lighter violet color. The new formula is darker, thicker, hard to wash out and stains my towels. Very very disappointed especially since I bought a bigger bottle this time.

Complete Disaster - no labeling ‘reformulated’?

I am a silver hair (and bearded) male that has used the Shampoo and Conditioner for years and received compliments by random strangers on how they love my silver color. I couldn’t find the 10 oz bottle so I picked up the 33.8 oz. I had no idea they changed the formulation. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED! What were you thinking?

NOPE–Disappointed in the new harsh color and scent

I have used So Silver for many, many years. The new formula is a MAJOR disappointment and waste of money. The smell is different and much too strong. The old smell was the same as the shampoo. Now it clashes. More importantly is the changed color... OMG this is much too pigmented and the texture is quite clumpy. It's supposed to be used in conjunction with the So Silver shampoo, not replace it with massive pigment. I don't want purple hair— just cut the yellow in the blonde. I see many others have the same comments. PLEASE bring back the old lavender and same scent as the shampoo.

New formula is awful!! Have used this product for several years on my silver gray hair. The old formula made my hair shimmery and bright. The new formula is hard to rinse out and leaves ugly purple streaks in my hair. I am shopping for a new product!

Please, please, please bring back the old formula! I have used So Silver for about 10 years and was very happy I had found something that would make my white/silver hair sparkle. I've even recommended it to many family members and friends. Now I'm struggling with rinsing this conditioner out and worry about it staining my hair. Please go back to the old formula. If it ain't broke don't fix it!

The new formula works for me.

I actually LOVE the new formula. The old one dried my hair out, and I hated that old rose scent! That scent was popular in the 60’s and 70’s. The new formula had a modern scent and really conditions my over-processed white blond hair. Just my opinion and experience.

I'm so sad! I LOVED this product, tried other cheaper ones and always went back to Matrix. However, and new conditioner changed colors - I looked here and it looks like that was intentional. The new forumla is so hard to wash out and my hair is purple most of the time. I'm going to have to switch to another brand .. unless you go back to the old formula:).

Missing old formula

I have been using the matrix so silver shampoo and conditioner combo for years. I love the shampoo and the old formula of the conditioner. I do not like this new formula at all. The scent is way too strong! The conditioner is way too thick, hard to rinse out. The pigment is also way too strong. I like to let the conditioner sit for a while but with the strong blue color I am unable to and need to wash it right away. Like many of the other messages on here, please bring back the old formula. It seems no one is a fan of the new conditioner!

So upset I bought two bottle because I been using it for years. It’s my favorite this new dark purple is chunky and horrible . Hard to rinse out and sticks to stuff! I want the lilac back . So upset I wasted money and want to throw this in the trash

I just opened my new bottle of so silver purple conditioner. I thought I received a defective bottle. Then I started reading the user comments. It is so thick I can’t even squeeze it out of the bottle and the consistency is like curdled milk. I’ve been very happy with the previous product and have received many compliments on my hair color. Non-pigmented formula is better!!!

I don’t like the fragrance or the texture of this product. It is almost too thick to get out of the bottle. I used to be able to wash and condition my hair and go three days before it looked and felt greasy. With this conditioner it takes maybe two days tops before washing and conditioning. I have long hair and the longer I can wait in between the better..please go back to your old non-pigmented formula!!!!!

Why have you changed this conditioner!!!

Like many others, I have used this conditioner for ages and been very happy with its pale lilac creamy texture. However new bottle, new formula is absolutely horrible … it stains your hair blue and doesn’t feel like its conditioning the hair at all ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE!!!

I loved the old formula for my gray hair. New formula is the darker tint that is staining my hair. Don’t understand why it needed to be changed. I haven’t changed how I use the product. The product is what’s changed.

This used to work so well for me but the new formula makes my hair visibly purple. I wish there were still an option for the older lighter-colored formula. I can’t use the new version, which is really too bad because the old version worked well.

I’ve been using the so silver shampoo and conditioner for years and loved it. The new formula with the additional pigments is too much. My hair looks blue. Using the shampoo is enough to get the brassy yellow out. Hoping they will make the old formula conditioner again.

Dont want to dye my natural blonde hair

This has been my number one conditioner for years and has done wonders for my hair. I just picked up the new formula and after using it, realized that it now contains dyes. I pride myself on my natural blonde hair and the last thing I want to do to it is dye it. I'm pretty bummed and now am going to have to go find a different conditioner

Changed Formula

I initially purchased this and have been using it faithfully for a year but I recently purchased the conditioner and it looks like the brass off conditioner. The previous one was a beautiful lavender and helped my gray stay silver. The deep blue conditioner that is now so silver has left me without a conditioner for my gray hair.

GREAT CONDITIONING

I do like the way the conditioner softens the gray hairs and does not make my hair look greasy like some of the other products I've used. My hair is streaked with gray and the "So Silver Pigmented Conditioner" tones down the Platinum color in my hair to give it a softer blonde color when I first color it. I notice the "So Silver Pigmented Conditioner" does give the gray hairs more of a pewter color with a hint of purple.

My Favorite Conditioner

I have blonde hair, and it often gets brassy over time. The purple conditioner helps to neutralize that, and helps my color last. I love the texture of it, and a little goes a long way. I'm able to easily brush my hair after using it, rather it being tangled like a lot of products leave my hair. It smells so nice too; my partner even commented how good my hair smelled a couple days ago. It washes clean, and leaves my hair soft and shiny. This is definitely my new go to conditioner.

Does a nice job of subtly toning blind and grey hair

I have grey roots and blonde highlights, and the conditioner does a nice job of counteracting brassiness on both colors. The conditioner is gentle, so I still use a detangler after - but I prefer that over a heavy conditioner. The color is a vibrant violet but it doesn't stain my hands or the shower like some other toning products, so that's a big plus.

I have tried at least 50 "blonde shampoos" also a few "blonde conditioners".
This one is easily in my top 5......
The conditioner is thick, smells good, it hydrated my dry processed hair & most importantly does its intended job to remove the brassy/yellow tones.
I will be recommending to my fellow blondies and will purchase this in the future.
As with all of these tone products, I wish it would leave my hair looking even whiter, not perfect but I like.

Sometimes conditioners feel too greasy to me or don't smell the best but this one feels great and has a nice scent to it (not chemical smelling at all). It also has a good texture to it. I have brownish hair with blonde highlights and it definitely makes the highlights look more healthy and shiny.
